Commissioner Linnenkohl will present an overview of the latest and greatest of GDOT's programs, projects, planning efforts, and funding issues specifically as they relate to ITS, traffic engineering, and transportation planning.

The meeting begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Loudermilk Center, 40

Please note the ITS Georgia new registration policies:
- Early registration (by 5
PM on Friday, August 24) is $15 for public sector members,
$25 for private sector members and $30 for non-members. Five
enrolled students may attend for free.
- Late registration (after
August 24) or at the door is subject to availability of
space and will be $25 for public sector members, $35 for
private sector members and $40 for non-members.
- Cancellations by 5 PM on
Tuesday, August 28 will be honored. As ITS Georgia must pay
for the committed number of attendees, late cancellations or
"no shows" will be billed.

This month's topic is the Southern
States Communication Program presented by Henry DeVries of the
I-95 Corridor Coalition.
The communications program is being created to develop
interstate incident notification, information sharing, and
inter-jurisdictional / inter-disciplinary coordination across
state lines. The project will help improve regional safety,
enhance traffic and incident management activities, and increase
mobility for both travelers and commercial vehicle operations.
The outcome of this project will be improved service to the
motoring public during major emergencies. |

The March 29 ITS Georgia

This month, GRTA's Valentin
Vulov and URS's
Angshuman Guin will provide updates on the latest Atlanta
Regional Performance Measures utilizing GDOT’s Navigator
data. The measures include Travel Time Index, Planning Time
Index and Buffer Time Index.
GarrettCom, Inc. is an
industry leader in providing cost-effective, off-the-shelf
Industrial networking products for specialty and stressed
applications. GarrettCom’s Magnum products emphasize fiber
capabilities for industrial automation, power utility,
telecommunications, and outdoor markets such as traffic
control and video surveillance. GarrettCom, a privately held
company founded in 1989, sells feature-rich,
high-availability heavy duty Industrial networking products
through OEMs and sophisticated resellers to customers
throughout the world.
Products include hardened field switches with copper and
fiber 10, 100, and 1000Mb; media converters, 2070 controller
blade, and serial terminal servers/routers. All products are
made in the USA at factories located in Fremont, CA and
North Andover, MA. Garrettcom’s 6K32TRC managed switch is
currently deployed in the Navigator network in Clayton
County and the I-285 project.

implementation can reduce your overall workload, improve
customer service, reduce the number of vehicles used daily, and
more. Key concepts of advanced transportation management systems
will be discussed, along with integrated ITS technologies for
real-time communication and tracking. You will leave this
luncheon with a better understanding of available transit ITS
technologies and the benefits to be gained.
