MONTREAL (October 30, 2017) – The Intelligent Transportation Society of Georgia (ITS Georgia) was awarded the 2017 State Chapter Membership Growth Award by the Intelligent Transportation Society of America. The announcement was made at the ITS World Congress in Montreal.
“This award is evidence of the ever-increasing value provided by the chapter to our member organizations and their associates,” said Mike Holt, ITS Georgia President, who accepted the award on behalf of the Chapter. “It is fitting that this award comes during our 20th anniversary year, an indication that ITS Georgia continues to evolve, just like our industry over the past 20 years, to meet the needs of our community.”
ITS Georgia increased its membership by 32 percent in one year from 56 organizations in 2015 to 74 organizations in 2016 by focusing on timely coordination and consistent communication with all potential members past, current and future. Once membership renewals were solidified, the Chapter focused on recruiting new organizations that were involved in ITS and the transportation industry, such as contractors, integrators, software developers and program managers. These new members complemented the Chapter’s core membership of Georgia DOT, cities, counties, consultants and vendors.
The Chapter also provided online payment options and streamlined membership levels. The new process has been well received by the membership, and the Chapter is continuing this positive trend in 2017.
