WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff’s growing Atlanta, Ga office is seeking an experienced, Senior Traffic Engineer. This position will be a key hire to help grow our Traffic Engineering practice, including ITS/Traffic Engineering design, signal timing, traffic analysis and traffic studies. 
Responsibilities include:
  • This position will report to Atlanta’s Lead Traffic Engineer and serve as task manager for traffic engineering projects, with the expectation that the candidate will assume Project Management roles within a year
  • Successful candidate will work on GDOT ITS/Signal Design and Operational Improvements projects, City of Atlanta signal optimization projects, as well as traffic engineering projects for local governments and CIDs
  • Candidate may also work on design-build or other traffic engineering projects out of state
Specific tasks/project work include:
  • Application of policies, standards, details, specifications, and design guides from different jurisdictions
  • Collection, organization, research & analysis of project data
  • Interpreting results and identifying engineering issues
  • Analysis of improvement alternatives
  • Writing technical reports summarizing conclusions and recommendations
  • Traffic Signal Design
  • Traffic Signal Communication Design
  • Intelligent Transportation Systems Design
  • Intersection and corridor improvement studies
  • Interchange modification studies
  • Signal phasing and timing optimization studies
  • Safety studies (accident analysis, collision diagrams)
Job Requirements
  • Specify education or degree(s) required; B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field (Masters preferred)
  • Specify certifications required, i.e. P.E., AIA. etc.: Professional Engineer (PE) in Georgia or ability to obtain within 6 months, PTOE (preferred)
  • Specific listing of project type experience.  For example, “DOT experience” or “Bascule Bridge experience required” for structural, etc.: signal design, signal timing, ITS design (preferred), Georgia DOT experience (preferred)
  • Technical experience required: Microstation CAD experience preferred, knowledge of traffic engineering and planning software (HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, ArcGIS) preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and Power Point required

WSP|Parsons Brinckerhoff is seeking a dynamic project/client relationship manager for our traffic engineering group in our Atlanta, Georgia office. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with traffic engineering, business development, and managerial abilities.  The Senior Supervising Engineer is a leader whose key responsibilities include project management, business development, client relationship management, marketing, and project performance management. Responsibilities include:
  • Assist department head in leading business development activities to maintain and expand the pipeline and backlog for our traffic engineering business line in Georgia
  • Serve as project or task manager for various projects in Atlanta and throughout the Southeast
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of client relationships in Georgia, working in concert with Area Managers, Technical Excellence Center (TEC) Managers, and other regional staff
  • Oversee project delivery and quality assurance/quality control in accordance with the Business Management Systems, ensuring cost, schedule and quality objectives are met
  • Participate in Community, Civic and Client related out of office events
  • Coordinate with and support the other TECs and market sectors in the Atlanta Office and the Southeast
  • Analyze project technical aspects, defining scope and selecting problems for investigation, developing novel concepts and approaches, and recommending major design changes
  • Strong knowledge of budget and earned value; strong understanding of scope, schedule and budget
Job Requirements
Education Required:
  • Must have at least a BS, Civil Engineering degree; Master’s Degree is preferred
  • Must be a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Georgia with a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) preferred
Experience/Skills Required:
  • Minimum of 15 years of transportation engineering experience (with emphasis on traffic/ITS design, traffic operations and/or signal timing) with recent/relevant managerial experience 
  • The ideal candidate must have excellent communication, technical, and business development skills
  • Experience managing and delivering projects for Georgia clients, preferably Georgia DOT, is highly desired
  • The ideal candidate must possess great leadership characteristics, as well as the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with the Area Managers and other TEC leads
  • Local candidates preferred
The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
