President’s Welcome

Welcome to the Intelligent Transportation Society of Georgia (ITS Georgia). Here you will learn about our Chapter activities and gain a better understanding of how intelligent transportation systems (ITS) improve safety, mobility and the efficiency of Georgia’s transportation infrastructure.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Intelligent Transportation Society of Georgia. Incorporated in 1997, ITS Georgia was created to promote the use of ITS and showcase Georgia as one of the leading states in traffic management technology shortly after the launch of the NaviGAtor Advanced Traffic Management System. During the year, we will be celebrating 20 years of ITS Georgia, as we celebrated 20 years of NaviGAtor (and 100 years of GDOT) in 2016.

Our 2017 annual meeting and expo was an unqualified success. Thanks to our sponsors, exhibitors and attendees! Our program was very informative and entertaining. Review the presentations and enjoy images and video from the meeting by visiting the meeting webpage. We also elected new directors for the 2017-2018 term. Read about it in the news release.

In 2018, we’ll join up with the four other Southeast ITS Chapter for the ITS 5C Summit in Jacksonville, FL. Mark your calendars for Oct. 7 – 10, 2018 and visit the Summit webpage.

For the third time in five years the Intelligent Transportation Society of Georgia was chosen as Outstanding State Chapter by ITS America. A special thank you to Immediate Past President Tom Sever for his leadership. Read the news release. Read the entry.

ITS Georgia is committed to moving forward as an organization, working with ITS America and neighboring chapters to facilitate a better understanding of how intelligent transportation systems can improve safety and mobility. We will work to secure continued funding for ITS deployments through federal, state and local funding sources. We hope to grow our chapter in its membership, programs and outreach efforts to educate the public of the benefits of ITS.

Sincerely,
Mike Holt
President
